“While duck hunting the icy waters of the Mississippi River in late November, my party and I were out of character...knocking down every drake that came into our set-up. After a dozen retrieves in gale force winds, my labrador retriever, Ty, was pushed to his physical limits. The trips in and out of the frigid water took its toll on the dog and he began to shiver. On a five day hunt for pheasants in South Dakota, the snow was deep and the birds were running, which meant the dogs and I were going to put on lots of miles.
